Last year the 24h of Spa Against Cancer was the kick-start of the SSRI community, merging Simsport-Racing and Simracing Hub International. The teams managed to donate € 12.642,00, this was used by https://againstcancer.nl/ to organize an amazing family holiday. Where the children and their families temporarily forget their race against cancer. It was amazing to see that we as a community managed to contribute to this trip.
After a brief discussion within the Admin Team we decided that this year the cause will again be the Against Cancer Charity. This because the close link to racing, and the fact that we have seen first hand how the donations are used to put a smile on the face of the children and families that are in their race against cancer. On their social media you can see some footage of this years trip: https://www.facebook.com/AgainstCancerNL.
鈴鹿国際レーシングコース, Suzuka Kokusai Rēsingu Kōsu, more famously known as the Suzuka Circuit, is a 5.807 km (3.608 mi) long motorsport race track located in Ino, Suzuka City, Mie Prefecture, Japan and operated by Mobilityland Corporation, a subsidiary of Honda Motor Co, Ltd. It has a capacity of 155.000 spectators. Soichiro Honda decided to develop a new permanent circuit in Mie prefecture in the late 1950s. Designed as a Honda test track in 1962 by Dutchman John “Hans” Hugenholtz, the most iconic feature of the track is its “figure eight” layout, with the 1.2 km (0.75 mi) long back straight passing over the front section by means of an overpass. In the above picture you can see a Track Map the late Ayrton Senna used during the ’93 race showing the gears for all corners.
The endurance race at Suzuka Circuit was won by Kelvin van der Linde, Dries Vanthoor and Frédéric Vervisch, in 2019 they celebrated victory in the 10 Hours of Suzuka with the Audi R8. Now the SSRI drivers can step in their footsteps and try and win the 24h race for charity.
